Green seems to be a commonly overlooked color when it comes to trends in art, decor, design, and the modern world. It never seems to be a status color like red or blue. Even now, in the green popularity resurgence, it won’t achieve the level of gray or turquoise as an
it” color, no matter how many people paint their walls in emerald green lacquer. Poor green. It never really gets to shine.

Green is the color of growth and fertility. Green is sign of nature, often symbolizing stability and safety. Perhaps this is why it also symbolizes wealth. It is a restful color for the eyes and mind. And why not? When we convene with nature we are surrounded by green.

Green was not always very popular since early dyes were difficult to work with. It also has different meanings across various cultures and has different connotations in regards to shades and tints. A blue green is energizing, but a yellow green often refers to sickness.

 

Green as a design element is experiencing quite the resurgence. Green can act as a neutral tone due to its nature stance. You can add green to any decor theme thanks to the houseplants trend.

 

In addition to inviting green into your world, you can strive to complement the green. On a color wheel, the complementary colors are opposite your starting color. So you can compliment the green of your plants with pink, red, and orange.

Think of how amazing an arrangement of bright cacti would look on a pink dresser next to orange walls!

I am personally a big fan of green. For one, my color theme tends to have a lot of blues and green goes well with it. Our home has a huge amount of houseplants due to our growing obsession. We live on a rural farmstead and spend a decent portion of the year surrounded by green. I decided this next summer I am painting my front door emerald green. So try and look beyond the trendy greys and faded neutrals and give a little love to green!
