Thai Basil salad dressing and Marinade
It’s cold out and I’m craving something fresh and with pizzazz. Luckily, we grow a few things indoors over winter, one of my favorites being Thai basil. Thai basil goes great in a stir fry or soup. It is fantastic with lemongrass. For this dressing, I used it to make spicy slaw.
Spicy Thai Basil Salad Dressing
- 2 tablespoon oil
- 1/8 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup orange juice
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground lemongrass
- 1/4 teaspoon ground white pepper
- One dried dragon pepper
- 10 fresh leaves Thai basil
- 3 dried leaves of lemon verbena
Place all ingredient in a blender and pulse for 10 seconds.
Super simple! Ok, so getting some of these ingredients might not seem as simple. I can get lemongrass powder right at Wal-Mart and grow my own verbena. Most spice shops have all you need and sell it in a big enough bag, that you’ll have a bunch for future recipes. Trust me, once you try this dressing, you’ll want to use the same ingredients to make a fresh veggie stir fry. The basil, Dragon pepper, and lemongrass flavor combo goes well on so many things.
