Homemade Play-Dough Recipe ( Non-greasy & Without Cream of Tartar)

Play-dough recipe Play-dough recipe.

It was a rainy day, so we decided to make play-dough as our indoor activity. Play-dough is the ultimate compromise when the kids want to bake, but you hate baking. And it keeps them occupied way longer! some of the recipes out there call for three tablespoons of oil, which makes it SO greasy. we altered the water, vinegar, and oil ratios to make it less like molding peanut butter cookies.

A Non-greasy Play-dough recipe without Cream of Tartar

Ingredients:

1 Cup Plain Flour
1/4 Cup Salt
3 tsp of white vinegar
1 Tablespoon of Oil
1/2 cup of water plus 3 tablespoons
Food Coloring

Make It:

Mix water, oil, vinegar, and salt in saucepan over low heat until salt is partially dissolved. Add the flour and stir quickly. It will look like crumbly pie crust dough. Let cool five minutes so it doesn’t burn your hands. You can then form it into balls. Make as many balls as you want colors.

Use a couple drops of food coloring on each ball and knead the color in with your hands. Your hands might stain. We like Nature’s Flavors coloring. This is a great little activity for days stuck inside.

Our play-dough lasts about 10 weeks un-refridgerated before it gets gloppy. You can probably get more mileage out of it by storing it in the fridge.
