We are in the homestretch of the bedroom renovation in our lower level. of course, I have since ripped down a ton or wallpaper in the downstairs hallway and stairwell, creating a giant mess that will require skim-coating and other jazz, but the bedrooms are almost done! I just need my contractor to show up one of these days to finish the windows and and few small things. Which means I can start focusing on the room shift around. We are moving our oldest boy downstairs and putting the girls in his old/current room. This room is longer than the other bedrooms and the window placement is much more conducive to arranging two twin beds.
Of course, I completely forgot to snap and quick before pic, so the only truly before pics are closeups and my son’s clutter.
I have since patched up the walls and painted over that pinky mushroom color with RainDrop from Sherwin Williams. I also painted the closet an apple green. It is amazing how much light the old color seemed to absorb. Technically, the new color is just as dark, and these pictures are in the same light with the same camera settings!
In addition to the paint color changes, we are moving the girls to regular beds. They are still in cribs and our four year old is certainly ready for a real bed. The one year old still has several months until she turns two, so she will likely sleep in the baby’s room for a while before moving to her big girl bed. So, I need to make this into a little girl haven for two toddlers on the verge of growing into young ladies. I want the room to be able to grow with them, so I need to keep away from things that are short-lived and babyish.
Notice a few things in common with the previous Girl Room mood Board? I am keeping the same lamps and bunting. I will also have the same blinds installed in this room. For bedding, I am looking at the Carly 3 Piece Coverlet Set. It is a thinner quilt, so it would be much easier to wash than the usual comforter. I already painted a beat up old dresser we had in our dining room to use as a dual night stand. I think I will pick up two wood dressers from Ikea to paint white. The metal bed frames, I will likely order from Wayfair. I am just not sure which ones exactly.
So, basically, a toned down aqua wall with white furnishings and colorful accessories.
Oh, and don’t forget the array of brightly colored plastic toys complete with about 800 My Little Pony items. I am always amazed by those decorated room posts I see on other websites with jut a few handmade toys and maybe a perfectly matching laundry hamper. Meanwhile, my kids’ rooms look like the target toy aisle after a tornado came through.
Next, I will have to start planning a baby room/nursery, but I just cannot think that far ahead. Except that I am 28 weeks,so not THAT far ahead!! EEP!!
