Bambino Mio Miosolo All-In-One Cloth Diaper + MioBoost

Parents new to cloth diapering often go for an all-in-one diaper option since this style seems easier and simple. This can be the case depending on which style of all-in-one diaper we are discussing. Some AIO options have the absorbancy layers sewn inside with little ventilation making them difficult to launder and dry. Luckily, there are many AIO brands that get around this problem by designing an AIO with a more open ended pattern. The MioSolo all-in-one cloth diaper is an option that offers the convenience of an all-in-one with the open design and versatility of an all-in-two.

The MioSolo all-in-one cloth diaper has the absorbency layer sewn into one side of an inner pocket. The pocket remains open on one side allowing the absorbency insert to work itself out of the diaper during a wash cycle, making it easier to get clean and dry more quickly. Since the insert remains attached to the diaper, you don’t need to hunt and peck through your clean diaper load to find the corresponding pad/diaper combo. This saves time and frustration. Also, with an open ended pocket, you can stuff extra layers of absorbency into the diaper, as insurance against leaks.

The MioSolo is one size, so it has two rows of snaps offering three levels of rise. The hook & loop closures are highly adjustable for a small or big waist. This diaper is designed to fit from birth to potty training. Based on the size of the average newborn, this diaper will likely be a little big on the smallest setting, but should fit fine starting at about 10 LBS.

Here, it is shown on 26 LB Mory who is 16 months old. Based on the fit, I think it will fit fine until potty training. Mory is my chubbiest baby by far, and this diaper fits her thighs quite well.

The Velcro closures are STURDY. I often shy away from hook & loop because I hate diaper chains and getting stuff stuck in the closures, but the Mio Bambino brand seems to use some quality hook & loop. The laundry tabs stay pretty secure. Since the outer shell is waterproof PUL and the inner is polyester and nylon, the diaper on a whole should last a long time. And what is the point of cloth diapering if your diapers don’t last?

A MioSolo all-in-one is $21.99 for a single, which is a mid-range price and fair. You can save a few dollars by purchasing in a set of six.

For extra absorbancy, add a MioBoost booster pad. The MioBoost is made of synthetic fibers making it light weight and quick drying. It has microfiber for absorbancy and one side is covered in a nylon lining, so it can rest against baby’s skin without irritation. Having a liner on one side makes this pad more versatile than a standard insert, since it can be used inside a diaper sleeve or just laid on top.

The MioBoost pads come in three packs for only $7.25, so they are a really good buy. I might be a little biased since I really prefer this style of pad/insert to others. The MioBoost is wide enough that you could lay a couple inside a regular diaper cover to use as an all-in-two system.
