We haven’t talked about diapers in a while on Just Add Cloth, and all-in-twos are still a super popular option. Prefolds with covers are also the time honored traditional cloth diaper loved by parents who like simplicity. The MioSoft two piece diaper is both options with affordability and style in mind.
The Bambino Mio two piece MioSoft diaper comes in your choice of cover size: size one (under 21 lb) and size 2 (over 21 lb).
The Miosoft Diaper cover is trim, with wipable, waterproof lining. You can reuse the cover a few times between changes if it only gets damp. The double leg gussets offer blowout protection and the hook&loop closures offer a good range of adjustibility.
The Miosoft diaper for inside the cover is basically a nice quality prefold. The multiple layers of absorbent cotton are easy to wash and dry, plus the trim prefold is one size fits most, so it is also versatile. For maximum absorption, prep this diaper like any other natural fiber insert.
You can wash the two pieces together with your normal cloth diaper wash routine. The cover has laundry tabs to secure the Velcro closures and air dries quickly.
You can choose to use a variety of folds for the diaper, or just trifold it and place it in the cover. The cover has a front flap that holds the prefold in place and deters wicking at the front, making it a good option for crawlers and tummy sleepers in my opinion.
This is a size two cover shown on 16 month old Mory. To give you an ideas of how roomy the size two cover is, Mory is about 26 LBs and often needs to wear a 3T in pants to fit her thick legs. most of our one size cloth diapers are quite snug on the largest setting, but the MioSoft cover in a size two has plenty of room to spare. This makes it a nice option for using at night when she needs a lot of extra absorption added to the diaper.
Covers are $10.99-$12.99 each and diapers are $10.99 for a 4-pack, or you can purchase a trial pack (1 cover and one diaper) for $15.99. This is pretty affordable compared to a lot of all-in-two cloth diapers on the current market.
If your diaper wash routine needs a boost, Bambino Mio also has a diaper cleanser, MioFresh. MioFresh combines oxygen bleach with antibacterial agents to boost your detergent power. This can be beneficial for use with hard water, stubborn stink, and tough stains. MioFresh is best used in conjunction with your regular detergent during the wash cycle.
MioFresh contains no enzymes, synthetic perfumes, chlorine bleaches or optical brighteners. It is a good addition if you are stripping your cloth diapers for any reason. MioFresh is NOT a detergent in and of itself, but an additive to add to your detergent to boost cleaning power. Overuse could lead to color fading. You could also use it for stripping bath towels if they are retaining odor.
As always I recommend an extra rinse at the end of any diaper wash cycle.
