Gratuitous picture of Mory. Or maybe not, since she supplied the baby butt for testing. La Petite Cream c/o La Petite.
As an active parent in the cloth diapering community, diaper rash, creams, and wipe solutions are topics that really dominate some of my conversations. (And it seems totally normal!) One thing new parents question when looking into cloth diapering, is baby wipes. some stick with disposable, some go with paper towels, and some go with cloth. There are as many wipe solutions for cleansing out there as there are types of wipes. Of course, plain old water can serve many needs. Then come the rash creams because when you are pairing sensitive skin with moisture, rashes happen. Not all rash creams are cloth friendly. You can make your own wipe solutions and your own rash creams, but luckily, there is a convenient way to get two birds with one stone, so to speak.
La Petite Creme is a No-Rinse 2-in-1 Cleanser and Lotion made to replace you baby wipes for a comfortable, soothing diaper change. It is made without harmful or toxic ingredients, and has been popular in Europe for many years.
Apply the cleanser/lotion to a cotton pad or cloth and use it in place of wipes and diaper lotions. La Petite Creme will cleanse baby’s bottom while also calming and protecting skin with a moisturizing layer. This creme is hypoallergenic and paraben free. The gentle ingredients are cloth diaper friendly and will rinse as well as any cloth friendly cream.
Ingredients:
- Water
- Olea Europaea Fruit Oil (Olive Oil)
- Glycerin
- Beeswax
- Tocopherol (Vitamin E)
- Calcium Hydroxide
When used with cloth diapers and wipes, just use your normal hot wash cloth diaper routine. La Petite Creme does not contain items that cause repelling or staining.
I personally like that it has no colors or fragrances, and is easy to apply. Since the consistency is more like a lotion, it spreads easily. The bonus is your hands won’t smell like baby wipe afterward!
Any seasoned parent knows rashes and diaper sores happen from time to time. Sometimes it is from acidic foods, allergies, or new diapers. My kids often suffered from what I called the ‘acid poops’ which left their bottoms raw and painful. A nice barrier of cream or lotion can protect delicate skin from the burning and pain.
You can purchase a starter kit of La Petite Creme that includes a large pump bottle, a small travel bottle perfect for the diaper bag, and a choice of cotton pads or cloth wash cloths. The large bottle goes a long way. This is a great beginner kit for any new parent wanting to get started with cloth wipes, or has a baby with a sensitivity to commercial baby wipes. I would add that small bottle to my next hospital bag for those first newborn diaper changes!
Also, check out this how-to video on using La Petite Creme instead of regular wipes. It is cute!
