Honest cloth diaper reviews for parents, by parents. please enjoy this review by Melissa from Retro Modern Melissa. *Irresistibly Green sent me the Tiny Tush Elite 2.0 to review.
To be honest, I haven’t heard that much about Tiny Tush’s pocket diapers, so I was very curious about the Elite 2.0 when I found out that I was getting one. I got the print Lots of Dots, and I’ll admit, I laughed when I first saw it. Its makes me think of the 70’s. I actually didn’t really like the print at first, but it’s grown on me. lol It’s different from most other prints I’ve seen.
Thick PUL Outer
The PUL is thicker than a lot of other cloth diapers. I think the Tiny Tush Elite 2.0 is perfect for nighttime. I like to use the microfiber insert with a hemp prefold. We have yet to have any leaks. Bonus: There’s a strip of PUL across the top on the inside, which I like because it keeps the microfleece from sticking out of the front. People with belly sleepers might like it because it can help stop leaks out the front. So win-win either way. Bonus: There are a lot of cute prints available. If Lots of Dots isn’t your thing, I’m sure they have something that is.
Soft Microfleece Innards
The microfleece innards are really nice and soft. We’ve had some staining, but I’m one of those people who’s not so bothered by staining. It’s got a nice back opening about an inch below the elastic with a flap underneath. I like having the flap tucked into the pocket rather than laying on top. The opening isn’t the widest one I’ve seen but men shouldn’t have a problem using it.
Fit
My 19 pound 8 month old, Little Man (he’s in the 75th percentile pretty much all across the board) wears this diaper on the third rise snap. Around the waist there’s usually two or three snaps showing. I like that there are only two snaps on each wing. Fewer snaps to snap and no wing droop! My 39 pound girl can (barely) wear this diaper. She’s kind of thick in the middle. The crotch of the diaper is not narrow, and I think that it would be a little bulky on a little baby. I like the way this diaper fits on my boy. I honestly haven’t really used it on my girl since the fit is rather tight.
Inserts
Tiny Tush Elite 2.o comes with two microfiber inserts. Unlike other manufacturers’ microfiber inserts, these are a single layer, fold to fit insert. You get a small and large. Little Man is a heavy wetter, so I cannot use one microfiber insert alone unless I wanted a lap shower the first time he peed. I have to use both inserts. I like using one insert with a hemp insert. I do like that microfiber is super easy to prep. Wash, dry, and use. On a side not, I have not been able to use both inserts, because the large one partially shredded in the prep wash.
Performance
Like I mentioned, the Tiny Tush Elite 2.o is great for use at nighttime, properly stuffed of course. It’s great for daytime as well. It’s trimness really depends on what you stuff it with. As in if you stuff it with something bulky, it’s going to be bulky, if you stuff it with something trim, it’ll be trim. We have not had any leaks with this diaper. Overall this diaper gets two thumbs up from us.
