Staying healthy in any season is always important to us as a family. We all know that when one member of the family comes down with the creeping crud, everyone will fall victim eventually! Except for Mom because she is not allowed to be sick, right? (Ha) We generally manage to keep our kids illness free most of the time, so long as we never go to the pediatrician’s office. It actually took me a while to put two and two together and figure my kids only became sick after engaging in the germ fest known as a standard checkup. I used to be the type of person who only used hand sanitizers on airplanes and in portable toilets at the park. I am still a big believer in developing immunity, but I also like to perform some preventative actions, especially after my son’s last common cold actually developed into pneumonia and scared me half to death.
How can we cut down on germs this season while avoiding gross ingredients and overly dry hands? With a more naturally based sanitizer of course. Better ingredients and a pleasant smell are not always an easy combo to find, so it was Mother’s Therapy Organics to the rescue.

The great thing about this sanitizer, aside from the nicer ingredients, is that it does not leave the strong alcohol scent on your hands. Who likes that nostril burning odor of rubbing alcohol? Plus, it does leave my cracked hands feeling like they are on fire. The aloe, goldenseal, lavender, and echinacea help to keep your skin healthy after the harsh drying effect alcohol can have. I spent many years working in various medical establishments, and hand sanitizer was used often and liberally. It can take its toll, especially in dry weather. Mother’s Therapy Organics hand sanitizer Is a good choice for children’s delicate skin, and especially for the elderly. A travel size bottle would be perfect for my grandmother to keep in her handbag, especially with how compromised her immune system is getting in these later years.
If you tend to get the dry cracked skin, then the Germ Fight’n Hand Lotion will be right up your alley! This complimentary moisturizer is an excellent addition for dry hands, especially in Winter. My kids have my overly dry skin so lotion is an important addition to our lives in Fall and Winter. The lite cucumbery scent is not cloying and the lotion soaks into the skin quickly. It isn’t greasy at all and it very light! This alcohol free formula fights germs with essential oils an extracts, safe for all skin types.

While avoiding too much germ build up is a big part of staying healthy in the cold and flu season, let’s not forget about skin health. Like I mentioned before, my kids and I tend to have VERY dry skin. My poor three year old is the worst off. He loves to take a bubble bath every single night before bed, but the bubbles, even moisturizing ones, dry his skin out horribly. Right now he is on a bath hiatus for the week because he is literally scaly. Mother’s Therapy Organics has this awesome Baby Lotion that is so thick and nourishing. I completely understand why most lotions are very light, but when you have really, really dried out skin, something heavier is a must. My poor, molting boy loves this lotion. Well, he loves all lotion, but this one is much heavier than the others I have at the moment and the ingredients do not bother his super sensitive skin. At only $9.99 for an eight ounce bottle, the price is pretty good considering it should last a while being so rich.
Baby Lotion Ingredients:

- Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond Oil)

- Wildcrafted Verbascum Olympicum and Thapsus (Mullein)
- Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber)
- Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter)

- Panthenol (Vitamin B5)

Mother’s Therapy Organics also has a nifty travel version of the hand sanitizer with a metal clip for convenient accessibility. The travel size is the right size to be allowed at any airport, or just for your handbag. The clip is perfect for hooking to your purse, diaper bag, or stroller. If I decide to suffer through holiday shopping at the Mall of America this year, I am definitely clipping Mother’s Therapy Organics to the stroller. The restrooms there are nearly always a nightmare, and heaven knows I won’t get four toddler hands as clean as I would prefer.
If I can remember to use the sanitizer as soon as we leave the pediatrician’s office this winter, perhaps we can avoid the sniffle fest we had last year!
This season our anti-illness routines will include our usuals of good nutrition, good hydration, and hand washing, but I am gladly upping the anti with a quality hand sanitizer. I am pleased we have nicer options like Mother’s Therapy Organics available to us. All of their products can be conveniently purchased on Amazon.
