Pink Lemonade Cloth Menstrual Pads

One of my goals for this year is to revamp all things in the personal care area. From beauty supplies to deodorant, I am trying to not only be as green as possible, but also just improve the quality of the items I use. My not-so-monthly cycle has recently returned and my menstrual supplies needed a makeover. Badly.

I have actually been using some white cotton cloth diaper liners as pads and panty liners for a couple years now and they have never been optimal. Far from it. They don’t attach around underwear and are bulky and stain. So, when I had a chance o to review some of the beautiful pads from Pink Lemonade Shop *, I was stoked!

Pink Lemonade Shop is the brain child of Sue, mother of four, and cloth pad connoisseur. She makes all the Pink Lemonade Shop pads with the highest quality fabrics, including bamboo velour, soft minky, and designer cotton for a menstrual pad that is not only beautiful, but the most comfortable pad you will ever encounter!

Each pad is lined on the back with Water Resistant Wind Pro Fleece and attaches to panties with a quality poly-resin snap. The middle pad above is topped with hand-dyed bamboo velour and the outer pads are topped with a super soft minky.

Pads through the Pink Lemonade Shop Etsy Store * are available in several sizes:

  • 6 Inch Mini Liners
  • 7.5 Inch Panty Liners
  • 8 Inch Cloth Pads
  • 9 Inch Cloth Pads
  • 10 Inch Cloth Pads
  • 11 Inch Cloth Pads
  • Postpartum Pads
  • Cloth Pad Sets

Small liners start at as little at $4.75 and heavy flow or postpartum pads run around $13.25. Depending on how heavy your flow is and how often you wash your pads, you could have a stash for as little as $100 that will last for years. Cloth menstrual pads can definitely be a money saver when you take care of your pads. Even if you go for a fancy stash and don’t save money, the reduced trash waste and amazing comfort is worth the investment. These pads are a world of difference from disposable sanitary napkins. Whether you go for bamboo, cotton, or minky, the soft fabric is vastly more comfortable than paper or a plastic-y mesh weave.

Plus, the snapping wings keep your pads in place without any sticky tabs! If you are a pad user, you know what I am talking about. That horrifying moment when the sticky tab on your pad wing decides to adhere to you instead of your underpants and you are on the receiving end of a surprise bikini wax. Yow!

Pink Lemonade Pads are very breathable, which helps reduce odor and discomfort. I absolutely hate wearing pads to the gym and I must say, these were quite comfortable. I didn’t feel itchy or gross at all, and they stayed put without any kind of awkward shimmying.

Washing your pads is easy. Just rinse in cold water and wash in a regular cycle on warm. You can air dry them or tumble dry on low. Just like with cloth diapers, avoid bleach, softeners, and the sanitize cycle. I just rinse them in the sink a bit and toss them into one of our regular laundry loads.

Some points I like about Pink Lemonade Pads over some other versions out there are:

  • Most of them are turned and top stitched. I feel like this make wicking less likely and makes them last longer.
  • The price is consistent and fair for each size.
  • The bottom layer is fleece or wool interlock, allowing for maximum breathability. No PUL.
  • And of course, they are all WAHM made!

  1. I’ve been thinking about getting some pads for after I give birth. Most of the postpartum pads I’ve seen have been pretty expensive. Pink Lemonade seems pretty reasonable.

    1. soft cloth pads are absolutely great for postpartum. I hate the itching that comes with the paper ones during that time. Thanks for stopping by!

  2. i LOVE her pads! they are amazing, work great, and are super SUPER comfy! 🙂 they are my absolute favs in my stash.

These look awesome! I hate how uncomfortable and expensive the store bought kind are!

The snaps look like a cool idea and I’d be interested to give these a try,

as long as they hold up i would sooo switch to these i just worry about durability

  6. I am super interested in making the switch, but I have to know… are they bulky? You know how some extra absorbant pads feel “diaper”-ish under pants? It seems like these might feel bulky. Otherwise, they seem awesome!

    1. I only tried the larger sized ones since I tend to have a heavier flow. I found them to be thinner than the super sized disposable pads, but also a bit wider. So, yeah, while they protect underwear very well, you can tell it was there. However, the pantyliners look narrower, so if you have a medium to light flow, maybe go with those. Also the pads with bamboo are a little less bulky that the minky.

  7. I’ve never tried cloth pads, and I’m just not sure if I’d like it yet. I think my major issue is putting it in with the rest of my laundry… I’d like to try it, though! I really have no idea what to look for in a cloth pad, but your review helps me know of some things to look for!

    1. I just rinse them in the sink first. That way they are not super soiled when they go in with the wash. you could always just hand wash them in the sink.

  8. I’ve been wanting to get some there are just so many choices. I hate disposables. They are wasteful and I hate that plastic sound when you walk -feels like a diaper!

  9. I’m slowly building a stash, so am on the lookout for new styles and fabric I’d like to try. These look great; I like the variety of measurements and fabrics.

I love that she uses a wool interlock for the “waterproof” layer! I need a few more overnight pads and I love how soft these look!

I haven’t tried these yet. We got some pads that have PUL and my daughter thought they were bulky compared to sposie pads. I’d really like to try the kind with the fleece and see if she likes those better.

This is honestly the best and most comprehensive pad review ive ever read/heard. Thanks!

  13. I have been using Mama Cloth panty liners while pregnant… I will not touch another Disposable pad again!

  14. Why not just go one step further and use a menstrual cup? It’s even better for the environment because you’re not doing all that laundry.
