A Happy Green Life Laundry Detergent for Cloth Diapers

A Happy Green Life was created in 2012 by Amanda Wucher-Aller and Kristin Ward when they wanted a detergent that could effectively and safely clean cloth diapers while also being suitable for all laundry. Their products are made with natural ingredients and sourced in the United States when possible. They also make pail freshener powder, liquid soap, and air freshener.

A Happy Green Life’s detergent contains Sodium Carbonate, Sodium Bicarbonate, and Sodium Percarbonate, and fragrance oils. They have a wide variety of scents to choose from and based on what I received, I can only assume they all smell wonderful!

With a description like:

Bite Me: Fresh citrus notes of lime and orange sparkle with effervescent highlights as they lead to a luscious blend of berry and cherry in this playful scent. Leafy green accents add intensity as a base of vanilla creates sweet tones for the fragrance.”

How could it not be lovely?

This detergent is non-sudsing, so no bubbles and no buildup. It smells great out of the package, but the scent dissipates quickly and does not stick to your fabric.

My washing machine uses a lot of water even on the lowest setting, so I couldn’t fully test how well this detergent could clean in my machine with a small sample. However, I did use some on an overly funky smelling diaper I had washed five times and could not remove the reek of barnyard. I soaked it in the sink with A Happy Green Life detergent for an hour and rinsed by hand and the funk was finally gone!

I would definitely like to get a bag of this detergent and give it a real go in my washing machine. The biggest problem would be choosing a scent!
