Chocolate and peanut butter is a winning combo every time! I actually am not even a huge fan of everyone’s favorite candy combo, but I still appreciate the popularity and even the flavor. More importantly, the kids go gaga for it.
With meat and dairy shortages in the grocery markets all around here, I am glad to have some great protein smoothie ideas and options. I have resumed my workouts, but I was having recovery issues on such a low protein diet. Luckily, there are so many options to bump up the protein a tiny bit in your everyday eats. If you don’t need a full punch of a traditional protein powder, you can opt for something a little more low-key like powdered peanut butter.
Chocolate Banana Smoothie with Powdered Peanut Butter
- 1 cup crushed ice
- 1 medium banana
- 3 tablespoons 100% cacao baking cocoa
- 3 tablespoons powdered peanut butter like PBfit
- 1 tablespoon chocolate syrup
- 1 cup milk
Add ingredients to a blender (or container for immersion blender) in the order listed. Whip on high until smooth.
Since most of the sugar is coming from the banana and chocolate syrup, this smoothie is not overly sweet. We don’t need a sugar rush, right? I think it is a good amount of sweetness, but some people might find it bitter. It kind of depends on if you are a dark chocolate person or not. That cacao powder can be intense! Since powdered peanut butter has the fat removed, this adds a nice nutty taste without being too calorie heavy. It is such a versatile ingredient for dressings, sauces, and smoothies, I always like having a jar on hand. It is very shelf-stable as well. Enjoy!
