November tends to have theme. Turkey, potatoes, pumpkin pie, and cranberries! When we go to my mother’s house, we will often have that can no one can ever forget: the cranberry pectin cylinder that looks like Jello. What can I say? Grandma requests it. However, at home i like to buy fresh cranberries and try something a little more…..attractive. I created this cranberry sauce and use it in several desserts all through the holiday season.
Cranberries Stewed with Orange Essence
2 (12oz) bags fresh cranberries
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon sweet orange essential oil
See how simple that is?
Place all of your ingredients in a sauce pan. Mix together and simmer on low for 1-2 hours or until berries fall apart and pectins have gelled. It will get to a consistency of cherry pie filling.
Then use it to top EVERYTHING. Ice cream, cake, cocktails, donuts, pie, etc. I have some recipes coming up that use up that yummy leftover cranberry sauce.
Enjoy!
Thank you for this recipe. I like your blog very much.
