Space…..the final frontier…these are the …….

OK, enough. Lucky just turned six, and he has the honor of getting a brand new bedroom in our basement. Our renovation (phase one) will be finished in the next two weeks, so I picked out paint colors and I’m looking at furniture. He is a lucky boy to be sure since everything minus the bedroom door and closet doors will be brand spanking new. Even the windows.

Now, let’s remember the ugly and illegal that was going on down there before.

Sage and dark wood paneling everywhere. Not the good kind.

Then we brightened it up to be my office.

Now it has new , LEGAL windows that people can escape through. And soon will have carpet. We also added air returns and redid the HVAC duct work to be zoned heating, so no one is freezing to death.

Unfortunately, since the blinds were custom and no longer even remotely fit, I will have to order new ones. Luckily, the old ones do fit one of the windows in the laundry room, so it is only a half loss. Budget blinds has gotten a lot of business from me over the years. So picture a theme similar to what we have below, but with some white wood blinds.

The paint color my son picked out is Sherwin Williams “Still Water”. I have a bunk bed system picked out in a Ponderosa Pine. I will likely buy those exact Kalax shelves from IKEA as well as the Target bins. We already have the lime green lamp set. The part I will need to search around for is the fabric to make some blankets and pillows to go with the space theme. (Unless I fizzle out by then.) We are going with a more subtle grown up space theme instead of something super toddler-y looking. He is six, so he would tire of the toddler look pretty soon any way. I asked him if I can paint his dresser to match his lamps. He said no and to leave it aqua. It is going inside the closet anyway. He has so many toys with a million pieces, so I am not sure how many shelving units I need. Probably three, with at least 10 bins. SO>>>MANY>>>>TRAIN>>>>TRACKS.
