Easy Diaper Changes with ZIPaboo

I don’t know how many of you are still in that fog. You know, the fog of a demanding baby who leaves you an exhausted, depleted shell of your former self? Even when you get the never ending feedings under control, the never ending diaper changes go on for at least another year. Often longer.

We tend to be big fans of footie pajamas around these parts, since it is fairly chili when it is not all out freezing.  And let me tell you, that zipper that forces me to almost completely undress the baby for each diaper change is a major pain, if only because those wiggly arms and legs never want to cooperate for the redressing process! This is all made a wee bit more difficult if you are trying to stuff a bulky cloth diaper into those jammies. So, when I recently had an opportunity to try out some cool, new baby and toddler pajamas made to make changes easier, I was all in!

ZIPaboo is a patent pending one piece footed bodysuit with a unique zipper that begins at the base of one leg and extends over the tummy and ends at the base of the other foot. It allows you to easily access the diaper area for quick changes while still leaving baby dressed. Invented by a busy mom of two, ZIPaboo were designed with real parents in mind looking for an alternative to complicated snaps and inconveniently placed zippers. I am a little bit in love with these pajamas. If they had some footless sets and more colors, I would be tempted to have my daughter in them all day, every day. I like the full bodysuit on my kids because it keeps their hands out of their diapers, and prevents them from removing their diapers entirely. This has been an aggravating issue in our household.

The ZIPaboo jammies are super easy. Once unzipped, you pull them over baby’s head like a shirt and then position the footed legs around baby’s feet. The unzipped flap in the diaper are is very generously sized and offers easy access for even messy diaper changes. For a simple damp diaper, you can leave the feet in the jammies, but for messier cleanups, simply remove the feet from the grooves and shimmy the ZIPaboo up around your baby’s waist. When you’re done, simply tuck the legs and feet back in and zip up! No undressing, no struggling.

The extra bonus about ZIPaboo, is that it is the most awesome pajama suit for bulky cloth diapers. Those of us used to dealing with those extra fluffy behinds, know that an overnight diaper can be bulky to the point of ridiculous, especially if you have a super soaker baby. My daughter Wyn has been going through a phase right now where she wants to drink about 18 ounces right before bed. Add that to any other fluids she drank and a long night of either sleeping or playing in her crib, and we have a need for a huge diaper. I was having a heck of a time fitting her diaper into her fleece footie pajamas since the zipper only goes up one leg and ends up lopsided. The ZIPaboo is a great solution. The giant flap makes the crotch area extremely roomy and it can easily accommodate any huge overnight diaper.

I would like to add that my skeptical husband actually seemed to like these pajamas, which counts for a lot. The soft Peruvian Pima cotton is very comfortable feeling and a perfect weight for Spring weather.

    1. it is definitely something I will think of stocking up on if i ever have another newborn. Those constant diaper Changes get tiresome. 🙂

  1. Wow! This is really awesome! I love the way it unzips for easy diaper changes! I would have definitely loved this for when my son was up through the night and needed his diaper changed!

  2. We have a ZIPaboo too! I wish I’d known about them much earlier- they would’ve been perfect for the newborn days. More parents need to hear about this onesie/sleeper!

  4. I’d love to have some of these jammies for my little one and I’d love to give these as baby shower gifts!

  5. What a great idea! I love the ease of zippers over a bunch of snaps, but the zipper is always so awkward in the hip area.

  6. These look much easier than the regular zipper jammies where the zipper goes diagonally down only one leg. I find them awkward to get the leg with no zipper out.

  7. Omg! These might be the greatest thing ever! My husband hates late night diaper changes because he can never seem to get my son back in to his pjs. They always end up twisted from all the kicking. He would love these!

I love how easy it is to unzip and change a diaper! No taking out kicking legs or trying to get them back in!

These look amazing; I love that ZIPaboos can cover cloth diapers. We used footed PJs with snaps during the winter. I always had to leave the crotch snaps unsnapped to accommodate my son’s overnight diaper. I wasn’t able to use any of his zippered PJs because I couldn’t zip them passed his fluffy butt.

very efficient but i just dont like how bold the seam is! kinda tacky but i get the idea and i love the idea maybe if they make it a bit more inconspicuous

  11. I love this idea! how come they didn’t think of this sooner? i always feel bad trying to put my poor baby’s leg back into jammies that don’t stretch when they have the zipper down just one leg, especially with nighttime double-stuffed diaper bulk!

  12. Okay that looks so cool!!! I think it would be nice instead of unsnapping or having to take little legs out everytime baby pottys!!!

These are such a great idea! I will need to get some when I have another baby!

looks like this would help speed changes–I have a wiggle-butt who doesn’t like to wait for me to do up snaps or snare her legs in pants!

  15. this would make night time diaper changes way easier. and i think even the hubby would like it. he keeps complaining when i buy snaps…

  16. What a neat idea! I can see this making diaper changes easier no matter what type of diaper you use!

  17. Love this! I put little guy in a zipper sleeper tonight and was wondering how hard it was going to be to change him in the middle of the night. eeek
