With the kids being so into smoothies for breakfast lately, I have been experimenting further and decided to try out some avocado. I have to say, adding a whole avocado really ups the creaminess and satiety!
We still had some hemp protein/fiber mix leftover from the care package from my mother-in-law, so I experimented.
This is definitely a stick-to-your-ribs smoothie.
- 4 tablespoons hemp protein/fiber
- 1 small banana
- 2 small clementines
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice or a half of a lemon
- 1 whole avocado
- A splash of water for desired consistency
One minute with my immersion blender and we had a very thick and creamy breakfast for two. My kids are avocado crazy, so this one was a big hit. I think lime juice would have been more fun than lemon juice though. It could have had a guacamole thing going on with lime.
I have made this smoothies a few more times and between the fat in the avocado and the fiber in the hemp, it is a pretty good constipation remedy for the baby. I say that as a warning if you have a child with an already sensitive tummy and don’t need any surprises during a diaper change.

Do you recommend any particular brand of hemp protein?
I use Nutiva. I really have not looked into very many brands to be honest.
I have not tried hemp fiber before. I’ve made smoothies very similar to this one. I LOVE avocados and would eat them MANY times a day if I could.
the only down side to avocados is the cost. I love it when they are on sale!

This looks healthy AND delicious! I don’t have any hemp protein (not even sure I’d know where to get it), but I’m thinking I could just add some greek yogurt for a bit of protein. Thanks for sharing this yummy recipe. 🙂
